Skiing and Snowboarding at Kilternan of Dublin

Winter is here yet again and skiing and snowboarding is approaching the peak time of the season. Ireland is not a popular skiing destination. Though many places of Europe are quite famous as winter sports destination, people do not usually consider Kilternan in Dublin County as an alpine resort worth visiting. However, surprisingly visiting Kilternan can be a fun and enjoyable idea; especially if you are a new skier who wants to learn.

The Ski Club of Ireland is situated in the grounds of the Kilternan Golf and Country Club. You will find four slopes and two ski lifts here. It is not very far from Dublin. You can rent a car and go to Kilternan.

The ski club is open all around the year. However they offer classes for beginners between September and March every year. If you purchase a season ticket you will be offered practice sessions on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings until the middle of May. Equipments are provided for free during practice sessions.

Among the 4 individual slopes the longest one is of 180m and another slope is 150m long. The other two are nursery slopes which are only 50m long. The slopes are artificial and covered with a substance called Dendix. Dendix is usually lubricated with a misting spray to keep the slope like a natural one. If you want to learn skiing yourself or want your kids to enjoy the sport safely, Kilternan of Dublin can be a perfect destination for you and your family.
