One of the most amazing trip of my life was when my girlfriend and I went over to Ireland and stayed in the Dublin area. You will be hard pressed to find more gorgeous scenes of natural anywhere else in the world, plus some of the greatest architecture and pub culture that the world has to offer. However, if you are going to head over to Dublin, you have to rent a car if you are going to even start scratching the surface of all the sites to see!
At first I though it would be impossible to get a car over there since I am not from the country, but luckily I have AAA auto insurance and they really facilitated me getting an international driver’s license before we left the country. It is so worth it getting an IDL, it’s just as good as a passport for identification so you don’t have to risk losing your passport while you are traveling around.
Getting a rental car once I had my International Drivers License was, if anything, easier than getting a rental car back in the states. There are tons of places to get a car rental in Dublin, Budget Rent A Car was even there, but if you are going to go with anything, I would have to recommend Argus Rent A Car from personal experience. They were very kind, told us about tons of great places to go, and it was considerably cheaper than I would have though it would have been.
